DAVID MOSCOVICH is a Romanian-American writer who performs or reads his texts by fragmenting, richochetting, and refurnishing language until it meets its own devolution. Born to a family who escaped Romania at a time when the fear and surveillance in the Ceaușescu regime was nearing its peak, his approach to language is collapsed, destroyed and remade anew, much in the way texts and communication in the everyday required coding and recoding in an Eastern European police state. This recontextualizing and reinventing language occurs as an expression of this adjustment to the new world, a response to linguistic heartache and cultural loss. Moscovich plays with glossolalia and collage to appropriate, self-appropriate and remix metafiction. His stories and instigations have appeared in some magazines and not in others. A finalist for the 2013 Eric Hoffer Award for Best New Writing and a current Teachers and Writers Fellow, Moscovich lives in New York City and runs Louffa Press, a micro-press dedicated to printing innovative fiction.

Set in contemporary Southern Japan, it is a celebration of the beauty of misunderstanding and the inadvertent poetry of bad grammar.
